Lash Extensions 101: Everything You Need to Know
Tired of putting on mascara before heading out on a quick errand? Lash extensions are a simple way to elevate everyday beauty. For those new to the lash world, here are all the deets you need before your first lash appointment with Bloom Lash Room.
-
What Are Lash Extensions?
-
Synthetic lashes that attach to your natural lash using professional grade adhesive and applied by a licensed eyelash technician
-
It may be a single lash applied to each natural lash (classic) or multiple lashes per each natural lash (volume) or a mix of both (hybrid)
- There are different lengths, styles, and curls to suit eyes of all shapes and sizes
-
-
Who Are Lash Extensions For?
-
Everyday women, busy professionals, brides, or special-occasion clients
-
-
Different Styles & Lengths
-
Classic, hybrid, volume (see #1)
-
As a lash artist, it is my job to match a lash style to my client's eye shape to give them the perfect look and enhance their eyes

-
What to Expect During Your First Appointment
-
First we'll have a short consultation to discuss your desires, expectations and preferences. You'll also complete and sign a one-time consultation questionnaire and agreement
-
I will then clean and prep your natural lashes
-
The full-set lash application process takes approximately 2.5 hours, but also depends the amount of natural lashes you have and the style preference
-
I will ensure you are comfortable throughout and you may even fall asleep during the application process (lash naps are the best!)
- I will complete the process by coating the adhesive with a sealant, drying and brushing the lashes into place.
-
-
Aftercare Basics
-
Clean your lashes daily with water and an oil-free cleanser (I sell lash baths in my studio or you can purchase one on Amazon)
-
Avoid oils around your eyes such a heavy makeup and face lotions, oils can break down the adhesive and your lashes won't last nearly as long as they should
-
Brush your lashes throughout the day using a mascara wand that I will provide you with
- Avoid excessive heat (grills/ovens/heated blow dryers), never use a lash curler, do not use waterproof mascara (you may use regular mascara if desired) or do not apply DIY false lashes on top of the lash extensions
-
- What's next?
Typically clients come back every 2-3 weeks to get a lash fill. Some may go longer, it all depends on how the lash extensions are cared for and also the lash fullness preference of the client.
Lash fills are 1 hour appointments where I apply new lash extensions in place of extensions that have naturally fallen out.
Ready for your first set? Book your appointment today and wake up feeling flawless every morning!
